CASE RECORD · Brain tumors · 52
Luo Shiqin, 52, from Liuzhou, Guangxi, had a diffuse astrocytic tumor and was largely bedbound. Symptoms included limited movement, slow speech, breathlessness, dizziness, leg swelling, constipation and diabetes insipidus. The account records an April 2026 consultation.
After the first course, the family reported no clear improvement and continued bed confinement. They were distressed but decided to continue after discussing the situation with staff.
During later courses, the family reported that she could sit up and manage bowel movements herself. By the third course she could perform simple activities, with less pain and dizziness. The record retains the initial lack of improvement.

Could you prescribe just one week? I need to see a result, otherwise we are spending money for nothing.

I understand, but it has been ten days and there is no improvement; things are worse. Her foot was not this swollen before, and now her hand is swollen too. The pain on the inner thigh is getting worse. If there were improvement, I would not be saying this. Before, I could support her to walk slowly. Now she cannot even stand. If the medicine were helping, should we not have seen at least some effect after ten days? This is what I am trying to explain.

One 15-day course ends and then comes another, and then you say another 15 days. Nothing seems to help, yet you keep saying it is gradual progress. How can it be progress without any effect? We borrowed this money and have to repay it. Life is already difficult for us. Please give us some reason for confidence.

How has she been over the last few days?
28 Apr AM 9:07
Sorry, I did not check WeChat yesterday. She has picked up a little. Yesterday she passed stool on her own and her lower back feels stronger. Her leg still hurts and the swelling has not gone down.
So she is no longer using a laxative? How often does she pass stool on her own?
28 Apr AM 9:50
Every one or two days.

Okay. Passing stool every day or two without medicine is encouraging. Is it fairly dry or soft?

These past few days, my wife has a little more strength in her lower back. Her right hand no longer shakes, the pain in her right foot has gone, and she is much less dizzy. But the swelling on the tops of both feet has not gone down.
